The ultra-sound is truly amazing!
The midwife, or Doctor will ask you to gently lift your top towards your bra-line so they can apply a cold gel on your tummy and gently roll a doppler over the area and listen for a heartbeat.
If the time is right and your baby is at a certain size & stage of pregnancy, you will hear the echo of baby movements looming, and with the sound of a thunderclap! you will hear the babies heartbeat pounding like a railway train soaring along the track. It can also sound like an intense gallop like a stallion dancing on the land. The sound of your babies heartbeat is an eerie sense of joy knowing there is another life floating inside your stomach. To hear a childs’ heartbeat will always make you cry~ it is pure magic!
You will also notice the rushing, swishing sound of a raft afloat on the rough seas. This is the sound of the babies’ placenta. Yes! indeed, you can hear it all.
From 28 weeks and up to 36 weeks of pregnacy are fortnightly visits to your Doctors and midwives. You will become more and more anxious as the date of arrival nears, and butterflies tickle your skin.
